Summer Camp

What is Summer Camp?

Troop 228 camps at Camp Owasippe every summer for 1 week towards the end of July.

Summer camp is a week-long camping experience where scouts can earn merit badges, rank advancements, and have fun with their friends. Owasippe is the oldest continuously operating Boy Scout camp in the United States. It’s located in Twin Lake, Michigan.

An exert from the Owasippe Scout Reservation’s website:

Owasippe Scout Reservation, commonly referred to as “America’s Premier Scout Camp”, is owned and operated by the Pathway To Adventure Council, Boy Scouts of America. It began operations in 1911 and has operated continuously since that time. It sits on approximately 4800 acres, adjacent to The Manistee National Forest. With over 110 years of experience, they have a long tradition of Scouting excellence at Owasippe. Owasippe offers pavilion dining to its campers, where Scouts have a special opportunity to get to know Owasippe camp staff and be entertained with song and merriment. This also allows more time for Scouts to pursue their interests without having to deal with meal preparation. Camp Owasippe provides many unique opportunities for Scouts in all of the program areas offered. Traditional Aquatics, Shooting Sports, Nature, Handicraft and Scoutcraft take on new meaning when participating in the camp’s exciting and focused programs. There is something at camp for Scouts of all ages. Join us at Camp Owasippe for a truly exciting adventure of a lifetime.
